Air condition – Definition

Air-condition is one of the most fundamental ways to lower the temperature indoors and probably the most popular with an air conditioner. As its name indicates, the air conditioner is an electrical mechanism that conditions the air in a room. It changes the hot and uncomfortable perspective for a fresh and comfortable atmosphere, with the precise humidity and illness.

Air conditioners provide immediate and prolonged comfort and meet people the air evenly without uncomfortable drafts or sudden temperature changes. As it is also known, this firmness refrigeration system is the most widely used in air conditioning tackle for homes, offices, and productions.

Though there are different types of air conditioners, also, they are made up of a compressor and an expansion valve between both units. The air conditioning evaporator and condenser are through tubes that carry gas, which works as a heat exchanger; it “changes” the air temperature. That cold liquid is back into the interior, passing through an expansion valve that prevents the gas from rapidly gasifying. Inside, the liquid is transform back into gas through the evaporator.

This air treatment process is air conditioning, which simultaneously conditions temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and distribution to maintain a more pleasant environment. This process requires heat, which is obtaining from the hot air in the room and lowers the ambient temperature. The cold gas heats up again and outside, completing the cycle.

When the hot season spreads, we resort to different methods so that our spaces have a more pleasant temperature than the outside. What we know as refrigeration or conditioning becomes necessary, especially in places where the heat is extreme, as in many states of our nation.

Humanity has always needed to modify the conditions of its environment to survive and develop its potential.

Even thousands of years ago, dropping the heat of inhabited spaces was necessary. So they did during the night; three thousand enslaved people dismantled the walls and carried the stones to the Sahara desert to cool them with the cold of the night.

In 1842,  developed the working principle of the air conditioner we use today. It created a refrigeration circuit that absorbed heat through a gas. To do this, he relied on three physical principles. The first was that heat or energy in only one direction, from the highest to the lowest. Cold bodies tend to warm up and not the other way around. And also  that the state change from liquid to gas absorbs heat from the environment and that pressure and temperature are directly related.

The more pressure, the less heat, since this releases energy. Carrier designed a machine that controlled temperature and humidity through cooled tubes, building the first air conditioner in history. The southern United States textile industries were the first to use this system to maintain optimal humidity levels to condition cotton fibers.

In 1915, Carrier founded the Carrier Engineering Company, dedicating to technological innovation in air conditioning. Its main objective was to improve the development of industrial processes with machines that allow temperature and humidity control. Subsequently, many industries became interested in its technology and took advantage of this new ability to control temperature and humidity levels during production, obtaining significant improvements in quality.

For almost two decades, air conditioning was exclusive to industries.

In 1921, he patented the centrifugal refrigeration machine, the first-meter conditioning method in large spaces. This new system debuted in 1924 at the Hudson Department Store. Its use went from department stores to movie theaters a short time later.

In 1925, it requested to install cooling equipment for its room, and it was a complete success; attendees enjoyed a movie for the first time without suffering from the heat during the summer days.

In 1928, Carrier developed the first equipment for houses and apartments, but the Great Depression prevented the introduction of air conditioning in homes.

Sales of these devices only resumed after World War II. Bringing the comfort of air conditioning to the world ever since.

What types of Air Conditioning can I find?

There are different air conditioners, all with the same basic operating principle but with particular characteristics. Window air conditioners are easy to install and require little maintenance. However, because it is necessary to open a space in the wall to install it, it is optional only in cases where we do not have to remove it or change its place for some time.
